Road resurfacing on track in Pinelands and Observatory

The City of Cape Town’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas, together with senior Road Infrastructure Management project managers visited the ongoing road resurfacing projects in Observatory and Pinelands to assess how the work is progressing.

‘I was quite pleased to see the great progress of the roadworks on Lower Main Road, between Station Road and Trill Road, in Observatory. This is one of the busier sections of Lower Main and we are on track to have it ready by the last week in February 2025, provided there are no unforeseen delays,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.

‘In Pinelands, our team has already pre-treated the existing surface by means of patching it and sealing cracks and the overlay of asphalt has already been laid on one lane. It is looking good. This one is expected to be completed also by the end of February 2025. With both these projects the retroreflective road markings will be reinstated. All in all, I am happy with the progress I saw yesterday! And I would like to thank residents and businesses for their patience and support as we are working hard to keep Cape Town moving on good road surfaces,’ said Councillor Quintas.
